"OUR AIM IS TO CREATE SOMETHING UNIQUE SO THE BUYER GETS SOMETHING THEY'LL NEVER FIND ON THE MASS MARKET".
For 28 years,
fashion designers, couturiers and brides alike
have sought out Tyler's Fabrics for their expertise and exquisite range
of-exclusive fabrics.
Specialists in luxurious silks and French lace, Tyler's is
far from your ordinary fabric emporium. With a dedication to natural fibres and
a lifetime of experience behind him, owner Michael Tyler sources his fabrics
from Spain, France and Italy; fine silks are imported from China, and all
beading is done by hand in India according to specifications.
Tyler's is quick to
stress that each of the fabrics in the collection are unique to Tyler's Fabrics.
"We have all our laces dyed to match our silks", he says, "Our aim is to create
something unique so the buyer gets something they'll never find on the mass
market."
Well known within the fashion trade, Tyler's has long been a source of
inspiration for leading bridal and eveningwear designers. With a strong
clientele based on word-of-mouth and direct referrals, brides turning to Tyler's
for help in creating their dream gown will find themselves in capable hands.
"The key to our business is that everybody knows what they're doing. We don't
employ sales people - we employ people that understand their trade", says Tyler,
His personal advice for brides is to "have an idea of what you're looking for,
from the desired style and drape of the material, to the design of the garment
itself".
"Looking for fabric isn't like looking at a finished garment," he
explains. "The greatest mistake is that they'll fall in love with a particular
fabric which won't work with the design they've envisioned - which is why we're
here to provide guidance".
A treasure trove of colours and textures, the
collection includes French beaded Calais lace, beaded tulles, coordinating silk
georgette, duchesse satins and French satins. "Everything will coordinate back
to something else - all our fabrics all match", says Tyler. "We can assist with
any look that a bride to wants to achieve" he adds.
Passionate about his work,
Tyler relishes the design aspect of his work, and is constantly working towards
making 'everything that little bit more unique and special'. "But when we get a
note from a customer on the back of a photo that says 'thank you for your help',
that's all we need", Tyler says.
"We know that's our job well done."
